Why this site exists
A short, honest note from the person who built it.
🧮 The short version
I'm a parent at Einstein Elementary, and I volunteered as the Math Challenge chair. The challenges themselves are wonderful — they come from Math in Action, and I had nothing to do with writing them.
What I noticed was that on paper, a child would solve a challenge, hand it in, and then hear nothing for two weeks. Most of them quietly drifted away after the first few.
So I built this. Students submit their answers, see how they did right away, and can watch their own progress across the year. That's the whole idea.
📊 Whether it worked
In the 2025–2026 season at Einstein Elementary:
The number I care about most: 44% of the students who started at Challenge 1 were still submitting at Challenge 15, and 33 of them finished nine or more. For a voluntary program that runs all year, kids sticking with it is the whole game.
💵 What it costs
Running this does cost money. There's hosting, and there's the AI that reads the challenge and solution PDFs so a chair doesn't have to type the answer key by hand. I pay for that myself, and at one school's size it's an amount I'm happy to absorb — along with a lot of evenings.
As of today, the site is free for families and there are no ads.
If it grows well beyond Einstein, those costs grow with it, and I'd have to work out how to cover them properly at that point. I'd rather be upfront about that than promise something I can't guarantee years ahead. If anything ever does change for families, you'll hear it from me directly rather than discover it.
🔒 Your child's information
This site holds children's names and their parents' email addresses, so here is exactly how that is handled:
- The leaderboard never shows real names. Every student gets an anonymous handle like G3-Falcon. Only you know which one is your child.
- Your email is only ever used to find your child's entries. It is never displayed publicly, never sold, and never added to a mailing list.
- There are no ads and no tracking. The only outside script on the page is Google reCAPTCHA, which is there to stop spam submissions.
- No accounts, no passwords. Families never create a login, so there's no password of yours here to leak.
If you'd like your child's information removed at any point, email mathchallenge@einsteinptsa.org and I'll take care of it.
